It's fair to speculate that Chance The Rapper has had nearly every major label at his doorstep with hopes of signing the talented 20-year-old MC. It looks like you can Include Top Dawg Entertainment to that list as well.
In an interview with Al Lindstrom, TDE president Terrence "Punch" Henderson explains the label showed an interest in signing the Chicago rapper. "I believe Dave [Free] was talking to Chance and having conversations" he says. "I know [Chance] and Ab-Soul have a good relationship. But it was just talks." Ab-Soul did collaborate on the standout track "Smoke Again" off of Chance's Acid Rap mixtape earlier this year, which is where their relationship started off.
Just a few days ago Chance spoke with Rolling Stone and noted that he doesn't plan on signing to a label, calling the music business a "dead industry." Still, that doesn't mean we can't dream about a Black Hippy/Chance collaboration in the near future.
